Energy, Ecosystems and Public Choices
Energy, ecosystems and public choices is an interdisciplinary academic workshop which examines the interconnections between energy systems and ecological dynamics. The workshop provide seminal clarification on how energy is transformed within ecosystems and social systems by referring to the field of system ecology and explores how public choices - such as governance frameworks and institutional design- and energy transitions are interdependent, with specific attention to constitutional transitions in which ecological norms begin to shape the institutional landscape (for example art. 9 of the Italian Constitution). The workshop analyzes trade-offs, synergies, and uncertainties in energy resources within complex social-ecological systems. The aim is to foster dialogue across disciplines and support evidence-based policies.
The event is organized in coordination with the Department of Legal Studies.
