Smart City Observatory Workshop

Innovation in consumption measurement represents a strategic lever for enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and equity in the management of local public services related to water, electricity, gas, and waste. Technologies such as smart metering and sensors enable precise, real-time monitoring, providing both service providers and citizens with accurate data to optimize resource use and reduce waste. Alongside these technological solutions, innovative pricing models are emerging, including dynamic pricing, pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) schemes, and informational tools such as know-as-you-throw (KAYT). These approaches contribute to fostering more conscious and responsible consumption practices, encouraging a more careful and efficient use of services.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to explore innovative technological and pricing solutions, analyzing the most advanced experiences at both the national and European levels. The discussion will be further enriched by a collective reflection on tools, approaches, and strategies that can support the evolution of public services towards smarter, more sustainable, and more equitable models.
