Reforming building and construction regulations: new rules, digitalization and impacts for the construction sector

Smart City Observatory Workshop

In Italy, the regulatory framework for building and construction activities is primarily anchored in the Consolidated Law on Building (Testo Unico dell'edilizia - TUE) (Presidential Decree 380/2001), alongside numerous sectoral and regional regulations. Over time, a multitude of legislative amendments have been layered onto the TUE, resulting in complex implementation and interpretive uncertainty. The enabling act currently under parliamentary review envisages the adoption of a new Building and Construction Code, aiming to streamline regulations, simplify and digitize procedures, and more clearly define the competences of the national, regional, and local authorities. The workshop aims to examine the structure of the proposal and discuss its potential impact on the construction sector and urban environments, focusing specifically on administrative management, the transparency of decision-making and authorization processes, and the effects on project timelines and costs.

The event will be held in Italian.

The detailed programme will be soon available.

Admission is free. Registration is required at this link.
