Sustainable transportation infrastructure for Italy. What future?

Transport and communication

THE NRRP has focused many resources on the development of transportation infrastructure, outlining a framework of potential evolution toward sustainability, in a general context in which the key elements for the decarbonization of the sector related to the evolution in the technologies of motorization and in the modal shift toward transport modes with low environmental impact are struggling much to show effective results in Italy.

The discussion among experts, starting from the discussion of the results that emerged in the dossier edited by Paolo Costa “Italy, a Future to Invent. Sustainable transportation infrastructure” promoted by Fondazione Astrid and recently published by Edizioni Il Mulino, will be an opportunity to focus attention to the rapid changes in transport demand and critical issues that characterize the Italian transport system and address the complexity of the interventions needed to mitigate and transform them into opportunities: from investments to upgrade existing transport infrastructure existing, to resilience with respect to climate change, to responding to geoeconomic evolutions in Europe and the Mediterranean and to tools for manufacturing to come. Specific attention is given to urban mobility and its role in the redesign of cities, particularly for metropolitan areas and with a high tourist vocation. The purpose of the workshop is to reflect on the analyses and proposals emerging from the volume, with a discussion among experts in the field.

The event will be held in Italian.
