Urban and metropolitan intermodality: people and goods in integrated mobility systems
Via Sarfatti 25
Intermodal transport systems are emerging as a key factor in the sustainability and scalability of urban and metropolitan transport for both people and goods. Through innovation in technologies, infrastructure, and policies, intermodality supports the optimization of logistics flows and the reduction of operating costs in freight transport. For passenger transport, the primary objective is to ensure system continuity, ease of use, and attractiveness, fostering the transition to low-emission solutions.
Intermodality increases regional connectivity and allows for the most efficient and sustainable mode of transport to be chosen for each route, improving quality of life and the overall efficiency of the system. However, it presents some critical issues, including integration between different modes, regularity of services, coordination between operators, infrastructure costs, and user behavioral barriers.
The workshop will explore the adoption of intermodal systems in urban and metropolitan areas, gathering input on regulatory, economic, technological, and policy aspects.
The event will be held in Italian.
