Arts, Societies, Knowledge Economies (ASK)
The Research Center ASK (Art, Science and Knowledge) was established at Bocconi in 2004, to undertake interdisciplinary research on heritage and its environments; art histories and contemporary artistic practices, markets, and institutions; art and intellectual property law; creative and information industries and media.
In 2024, ASK federated with the Research Center GREEN, based on a shared commitment to cultural and natural environments, their histories and their futures. As part of GREEN, we continue to pursue research in our original areas of expertise, addressing broad societal questions and challenges through the methods and interpretive lens of the arts, humanities and related disciplines:
- Art histories, heritage and cultural policies - Material and visual histories, heritage and museum studies, environments, institutions
- Contemporary arts - Artistic practices, markets, and institutions
- Events and performing arts - Festivals, cultural initiatives, performing arts institutions
- Cultural industries - Industry dynamics, creativity studies: publishing, cinema, tv, music, new media
- Art and Intellectual property law - Rights management for arts, culture and the knowledge society
